Itinerary
Madrid · Burgos · Elciego
Pick-up in Madrid by private chauffeured vehicle. A stop in Burgos for the cathedral and tapas on Calle Sombrerería. In the afternoon we reach Rioja Alavesa and check in at the hotel in Elciego. Welcome dinner with the first tasting.
Elciego · Laguardia · Samaniego
A morning at Marqués de Riscal: the historic cellars, the Frank Gehry building and a vertical tasting, with lunch at the winery itself. In the afternoon, Laguardia: the walls, Santa María de los Reyes and the descent into the cellars beneath the houses. Sunset tasting at Bodegas Baigorri, seven floors underground working entirely by gravity.
Haro · Briones · San Vicente de la Sonsierra
A day in Haro, the wine capital of Rioja. Visit and tasting at one of the century-old wineries of the Barrio de la Estación, then lunch in the old town. In the afternoon, the Vivanco Museum of Wine Culture in Briones and the viewpoint at San Vicente de la Sonsierra over the Ebro. Dinner at your own choosing.
Logroño · Rioja Alta
A morning in Logroño: the co-cathedral of Santa María de la Redonda, the market and the pinchos of Calle Laurel, each bar with its own. The afternoon is yours, to rest at the hotel or add one last visit to a family winery in Rioja Alta. Farewell dinner.
San Millán de la Cogolla · Madrid
We set off after breakfast. On the way to Madrid we stop at San Millán de la Cogolla to see the Yuso and Suso monasteries, where the first words written in Spanish survive. Arrival in Madrid in the early afternoon.
